What was needed from us
This complex and multi-tiered project required careful planning and skilful execution to ensure all phases were completed on time and to budget with minimal disruption and business continuity at all times.
In order to achieve their objectives, Micron would need to engage and manage teams of cabling engineers alongside its own telecoms teams.
Micron deployed 2 teams of cabling engineers, one starting with sites in the North and the other in the South. The teams worked through country and eventually met in the Midlands area for the completion of the project. Micron Telecoms engineers worked alongside the cabling teams installing new phone systems once the networks were in place.
The key to this project was planning and resource. It was absolutely imperative that the right people would be in the right place at the right time.
For the cabling aspect of the project, Micron partnered with a large national contractor which it had used many times before because they had the capacity to scale their operation to this project. Micron went through a stringent planning process with the cabling engineers and was able to create complex site plans with in depth detail on the layout of the sites and any possible pitfalls there may be involved in the installs.
Micron led the project from the outset to ensure the correct infrastructure was in place for its new telephony installations and also because it needed everything in place to be able to support the sites on an ongoing basis.
Once every site had been surveyed, logged and plans designed, the cabling teams commenced their installations.
Micron in the mean time was configuring the telephony equipment to be able to follow straight in and complete the install alongside existing systems before switching off and removing them and enabling the new equipment.
"This is the sort of project we thrive on" said Jon Biles, Senior Account Manager, Micron Communications.
"Its not every company that would be able to execute such a large and complex multi site install so clinically, but we just did what we always do, planned thoroughly and executed in a military fashion".
