Border Fish and Game
Micron helps local Fish and Game Dealer relocate and expand its operations to meet the demands of a competitive market

Overview
Border Fish and Game is a small supplier of fresh produce to the trade. Based out of a small unit in Yeovil, the business had existed for 20 years on a modest level.
In October 2011 the business was sold following the existing owner's decision to retire. The new management team saw potential for growth in the company however understood that investments in new technologies would be key to facilitating the company's facelift.
Being a small company with big plans, Border Fish and Game needed telecoms and IT solutions which were cost effective and future proof. The key objective was to add flexibility and resilience in the initial instance and also to accommodate a planned relocation in Spring 2012.
Having worked with local telecoms and IT provider Micron Communications successfully in the past, the management of Border Fish and Game were keen to engage their award winning services once again.

The Implementation
When the business changed hands in October 2012 it had 1 analogue phone line and no ADSL connection. The previous owner was responsible for duties both on and off site however had not been using a divert facility meaning customers would often have to leave a voicemail and wait up to 24 hours for a response, not ideal for busy restaurants wishing to place orders.
To allow for continual flexibility and management, Micron commissioned a local phone number with inbound network services which Border Fish and Game began marketing to new customers. For the benefit of existing customers, Micron installed a divert on the advertised phone number to the new Inbound number. This service meant Border Fish and Game were able to alter where calls were received remotely using an I- Phone or laptop and also use date and time based routing to ensure calls were answered both in and out of normal office hours.
Phase two was to plan for the relocation of the business to a rural location on a different telephone exchange, restricting number portability options. Micron installed an assured IP connection into the new site which would facilitate the voice and data requirements of the site. Once this had been installed the main advertised Border Fish and Game number was diverted to the underlying analogue line for business continuity.
ADSL was cancelled at the old site enabling the main advertised number to be lifted and ported onto Micron's IP network. Once the number port had been completed, Micron installed a small hosted Feature Plus phone system to the site and the existing advertised phone number was connected.
The IP based system allows Border Fish and Game to maintain its existing number without having the cost of ongoing divert charges. The Feature Plus platform also allows Border Fish and Game to advertise a London based phone number for the benefit of generating new business further afield whilst retaining a local feel.
Feature Plus comes with a rich bundle of PBX functions such as music on hold, call logging, click to dial, call forwarding / hunt grouping and voicemail to email with SMS notifications. "Our new phone system works wonders for our business. It enabled a seamless port to the new site and also gives us the look and feel of a much larger organisation than we actually are", says Jonny White of Border Fish and Game.
"We are selling into an extremely competitive market place and competing with many large and well established players. Our competitive edge often comes from being able to provide a solution out of hours or at the last minute. Feature Plus means day or night we never miss a call and the service level we can provide cannot be matched by our competitors.
